Week 4: Resetting the Reset

A full month into The 52 Week Reset, and it hasn't been easy. Let's look at some of the highlights, and some of the lowlights, from the last 4 weeks.

I’m a full month into The 52 Week Reset challenge, so I’d like to take some time to “reset the reset” and reevaluate and reestablish my goals and plan my actions for the next few weeks.

The original goals I set can be found here: Week 0 and the recap of last week’s progress here: Week 3.

To briefly explain what the challenge is, my intention is to make sweeping changes in every aspect of my life, divided into five “pillars”: Image & Mindset, Health & Fitness, Finances, Hobbies & Social Life, and Building an Audience. I feel that improving my life in each of these pillars will create a ton of forward momentum and keep making progress week after week.

Pillar 1: Image & Mindset

For pillar 1, “Image & Mindset”, my core goals are centered on how I perceive myself, and how I approach my days and the world around me. Part of building a more positive and productive mindset includes creating and adopting better routines - especially in the mornings, which is where I personally struggle. Throughout the first 4 weeks of the reset, I have definitely continued to struggle with starting my days off right - but I am making progress.

Throughout the next few weeks, I want to continue to focus on adopting a better morning routine, as well as a deeper self-care routine. I want to include mindfulness practice and meditation as part of this self-care routine, which I’ll be researching and planning next week.

Pillar 2: Health & Fitness

Pillar 2 is all about my physical health and fitness level. I have two core goals for this pillar: lose weight (or more specifically, body fat) and improve my flexibility and range of motion. The last couple of weeks I have been dealing with injuries and illness, so I have definitely failed to maintain any sort of workout routine. However, I have been continuing to work on adopting a cleaner and healthier diet, which is showing some (slow) results so far.

For month two, I want to restart the PiYo workout program from Chalene Johnson & Beachbody, because of my experience with it in the past. I know it will help improve my flexibility, balance, and range of motion, which is just as important to me as actual weight loss.

Pillar 3: Finances

Another key pillar of the reset is all about my financial health. Considering the state of global affairs and the financial markets, I don’t think anyone’s net worth has been particularly great as of late, but I have made significant progress in paying down debt and maintaining an all-important safety net.

In week 4, I paid off my final credit card balance, and now I’ll be focusing on paying down my personal loan debt, with the goal of cutting this debt by about 30% by the end of the reset.

Pillar 4: Hobbies & Social Life

While I’ve titled this pillar “Hobbies & Social Life”, it should almost be called education for the time being. I’ve focused the last few weeks on finishing my associate’s degree in accounting, and that will continue for now. Throughout the summer, and in the long run, I want to replace bad habits and “lazy” hobbies (think TikTok scrolling, staying home on the couch, etc) with more “active” hobbies and a busier social life.

For now, I’ll continue with my education (3 weeks to go!) and trying to break the screen time addiction.

Pillar 5: Building an Audience

The final pillar of the reset is pillar 5, “Building an Audience”. The focus of this pillar is about consistency with content creation and in the long run, consistency with building a business. So far, my goals have been focused on publishing these weekly recaps - and while this week’s is late - so far, I’m 5-for-5. I want to add more social media efforts in the next few weeks, so I can actually start building a real audience - not just an empty room.

So with a full month down in the reset, overall I’m okay with my progress so far, but I’m eager to commit to deeper changes and I can’t wait to see how much different my goals and recaps look 2-3 months from now. Until next week!
